The Steering Committee (SC) consists of members with expertise in Transfusion Medicine with broad representation from across Canada. SC members will include partners from the blood providers (Canadian Blood Services and Héma-Québec), academic and community hospitals, methodologists/biostatisticians, basic scientists, physicians from high blood loss specialties, as well as patients and blood donor partners. The role of the SC is to guide the strategic direction of the network, along with the co-directors, with advice from the Scientific Advisory Committee. In particular, the SC will:
● Define the objectives of the network
● Create a framework for tracking progress in meeting the objectives and re-calibrating if required
● Create and implement the organizational structure for the network
● Evaluate the network’s achievements regarding research output, recruitment and funding on a quarterly basis
● Help identify funding opportunities and projects/investigators for the submission
● Identify priority themes for research
● Review and approve membership of the CTTG SC and WGs in conjunction with the directors.
● Determine a process for selection of dedicated research themes
