Call for Proposals

The Clinical Trials Working Group of the CTTG would like to invite individuals wishing to have their study reviewed and possibly endorsed by CTTG for the spring CIHR grant submission in March 2026 to please e-mail Amie Malkin (amie.malkin@sunnybrook.ca) by Monday, January 12th, 2026 expressing your interest. In the e-mail, interested candidates should provide an 300 word abstract (Abstract Guidelines here).

If many proposals are submitted, we will select one or two based on predetermined criteria. If your proposal is selected, you will be expected to present for 15 min (followed by a 15 min Q&A). Presentations will occur on the week of January 26th, 2026. Following presentation evaluation, presenters may be invited to submit a grant draft for review with feedback to be received from CTTG reviewers by February 16th, 2026.

These timelines correspond with CIHR deadlines:

Registration Opens January 7, 2026
Registration Deadline February 4, 2026
CIHR Application Deadline March 4, 2026

The priority criteria outlined by the CTTG executive for evaluation are as follows:

      1. Prospective Controlled Study
      1. Blood Bank Based Project: Involving randomization or patient selection at the blood bank level
      1. Product-Centered Study: New product or new use of an existing product
      1. Implications for overall blood product utilization in Canada or internationally
      1. Physicians in relevant specialty/field (ex. MRP Physicians caring for population of interest) feel the trial is important: Ideally letter of support from relevant societies or physician groups
